How can I receive SMS and calls while connected to my data-only eSIM?
If your eSIM purchased via eSIMfo only supports data, you can continue to use another line (your primary line) for voice calls and SMS.
To enjoy the convenience of eSIMfo for data while using your primary line for calls and messaging, you must enable the primary line and set it as your "Default Voice Line."
On iOS Devices
- Go to Settings > Cellular.
- Tap your Main / Primary line.
- Toggle "Turn On This Line" to ON.
- You should see CALLS | TEXT MESSAGES | CELLULAR DATA. Then tap "Default Voice Line".
- Select your Main / Primary line.
- Go back to the Cellular page. This time, select Cellular / Mobile Data.
- Ensure your eSIMfo eSIM is selected for mobile data.
On Samsung Devices
OPTION 1: Via Quick Settings Panel
- Swipe down from the top of the screen (you may need to swipe down again to see the full menu).
- Tap on Calls.
- Select your Main / Primary line.
- Do the same for SMS.
- Also, ensure your eSIMfo eSIM is selected for mobile data.
OPTION 2: Via Settings
- Go to Settings > Connections > SIM card manager.
- Scroll down until you see the Preferred SIM card section.
- Tap on Calls and select your Main / Primary line.
- Do the same for SMS.
- Ensure your eSIMfo eSIM is selected for mobile data.
On Pixel Devices
(Note: Steps may vary slightly depending on your Pixel model)
- Go to Settings > Network & Internet > SIMs.
- Select your Main / Primary line.
- Toggle "Use SIM" to ON.
- Find and tap the "Call Preference" option.
- In the pop-up window asking which plan to use, select your Main / Primary line.
- Return to Settings > Network & Internet > SIMs and ensure your eSIMfo eSIM is selected for mobile data.
After following these steps, your device is configured to use your primary line for calls and SMS, and your eSIMfo package for mobile data.
