Turkcell eSIM 2026: Tourist SIM Prices & Roaming Guide
Visiting Türkiye or taking your Turkcell line abroad? Compare tourist SIM prices, online eSIM activation, roaming charges and travel data alternatives.

In this article
Searching for a Turkcell eSIM can mean two very different journeys: buying a Turkish line for a holiday in Türkiye, or taking an existing Turkcell number abroad. A tourist package and a roaming benefit solve different problems. Start with your direction of travel, then compare the number, data allowance and activation process you actually need.
This is an independent guide published by eSIMfo, which sells travel eSIMs. It is based on official operator information and current product listings, not a field speed test. Turkcell is a separate brand; its logo identifies the service reviewed.
Visiting Türkiye: what does a Turkcell tourist SIM include?
The official Tourist Welcome Pack listing shows 20 GB, 200 domestic minutes and 100 SMS for 1,800 TL, with 28-day validity. It is a local mobile line, useful if you want a Turkish number for ordinary calls as well as mobile internet. Domestic minutes should not be treated as an allowance for calling every country.
If you mainly need maps, messaging, bookings and app calls, compare a data-only travel eSIM too. The examples below do not provide identical services: Turkcell includes local voice/SMS, while the listed eSIMfo Turkey packages are data-only. Prices are shown in their original currencies; no exchange-rate saving is implied.
| Option | Data / validity | Displayed price | Calls, SMS and network |
|---|---|---|---|
| Turkcell Tourist Welcome Pack | 20 GB / 28 days | 1,800 TL | 200 domestic minutes + 100 SMS; Turkcell |
| eSIMfo Turkey | 5 GB / 30 days | €4.80 | Data only; Türk Telekom (Avea) |
| eSIMfo Turkey | 10 GB / 30 days | €7.45 | Data only; Türk Telekom (Avea) |
| eSIMfo Turkey | 20 GB / 30 days | €11.50 | Data only; Türk Telekom (Avea) |

Can tourists buy and activate a Turkcell eSIM online?
- Check that your exact phone model and regional version support eSIM and that the phone is carrier-unlocked. For Turkcell’s remote tourist activation, also check NFC support and a biometric/chipped passport.
- Apply through Turkcell’s official tourist page and choose the relevant SIM/eSIM route. Its remote flow uses passport scanning, NFC reading, a liveness check and video identity/contract confirmation; follow the operator’s instructions rather than a third-party imitation.
- Complete installation on reliable Wi-Fi. Online preparation does not mean the Turkish service is already usable abroad: Turkcell describes arrival and entry verification as part of becoming ready to use the tourist package.
- If remote verification is unavailable or you want a physical SIM, check the store route and required documents. Do not assume every entry document is accepted by the online passport flow.

Airport shop or online order: what should you check?
For an online order collected at a Turkcell store, the official FAQ says no additional pickup fee is charged. That does not establish a universal price for every walk-in airport offer. Before paying in a shop, ask for the full new-line price, data, validity, minutes/SMS and any optional additions on one written quote.
Choose a local line when a Turkish number and ordinary calls matter. Choose a travel data eSIM when connectivity is the main need and your phone is compatible. For seven days of maps and occasional messages, start with a modest data budget; for frequent video uploads or laptop sharing, allow more. Download maps and large updates on Wi-Fi.
Leaving Türkiye: how does Turkcell roaming work?
For existing Turkcell subscribers traveling outside Türkiye, buying a Tourist Welcome Pack is not the same as enabling roaming. “Tarifen Yurt Dışında Geçerli” uses eligible benefits from the home tariff in listed destinations. The published daily prices checked were 500 TL for Avantaj and 600 TL for Ekstra; destination lists and eligibility differ.
Check included roaming benefits first. Certain Platinum plans provide up to 15 days without an additional daily fee, depending on the tariff. This is not a benefit of every Turkcell line. If your trip fits an existing allowance, buying a second data package may be unnecessary.
For chargeable use, check the applicable country group, remaining home allowance and the operator’s 24-hour charging rules. A phone call or outgoing SMS can matter even when mobile data comes from another eSIM. Turning off home-line data roaming alone does not block every chargeable service.
Compare the cost over your whole trip
| Charged usage periods | Avantaj at 500 TL | Ekstra at 600 TL |
|---|---|---|
| 3 periods | 1,500 TL | 1,800 TL |
| 7 periods | 3,500 TL | 4,200 TL |

Keep your number and choose the correct data line
- Name the lines clearly, for example “Turkcell number” and “Travel data.” Select the travel eSIM for mobile data and follow that package’s roaming instructions.
- Disable data roaming and automatic cellular-data switching on the home line when avoiding accidental home-carrier data use. Keep the line enabled only as needed for your original number, after checking its call/SMS conditions.
- WhatsApp can usually continue with the registered number over the new internet connection; do not change the account number just because you changed data lines. Ordinary SMS sent to your original number still needs that original line.
- Test maps and messaging before leaving Wi-Fi. Save hotel addresses and tickets offline. Do not delete an eSIM as an initial troubleshooting step; its reinstall rules may be restrictive.
Does eSIM mean better 5G coverage?
An eSIM is a SIM format, not a guarantee of 5G or faster internet. Device compatibility, selected plan, host network, coverage, congestion and roaming agreements all matter. A 5G-capable handset may still connect through 4G in a particular location.
For the eSIMfo Turkey examples here, the listed host network is Türk Telekom (Avea). They should not be described as Turkcell products. If a particular operator is essential to your route, verify it on the selected product before buying.
Turkcell travel questions, answered
Does Turkcell offer an eSIM for tourists?
Yes. Its official tourist page provides an eSIM route. Remote activation requires a compatible phone, NFC, a suitable passport and successful identity checks; a store route may be needed instead.
What is the Turkcell tourist SIM price?
The checked official offer was 1,800 TL for 20 GB, 200 domestic minutes and 100 SMS over 28 days. Confirm today’s offer and the complete cost for your purchase channel.
Will a Turkcell tourist package work on my trip abroad?
Do not assume so. This guide’s tourist allowance is for use in Türkiye. Existing Turkcell customers traveling abroad need the relevant roaming benefit or another destination-compatible connection.
Can I keep my Turkcell number while using a travel eSIM?
Yes, on a compatible dual-SIM phone. Use the travel line for data and manage the Turkcell line separately. Keeping a number does not make its roaming calls or outgoing SMS free.
Can I share internet with family?
The official Turkcell tourist FAQ permits hotspot, and all current eSIMfo products support it. Shared traffic uses the active package’s data; device and fair-use conditions still apply.
Is a travel eSIM always cheaper than Turkcell roaming?
No. Included roaming days can make your current tariff the better choice. Compare your actual remaining benefits and complete travel cost, not only a headline daily price.
Does a data-only eSIM receive my bank’s SMS?
It does not replace the line owning the number registered with your bank. Keep access to that line and check the bank and operator requirements; do not assume every new number accepts verification codes.
Should I buy at Istanbul Airport?
A shop can help with local-line setup, but compare the written final offer. The no-extra-pickup-fee statement applies to the official online-order collection flow, not every advertised walk-in bundle.
