Telkomsel eSIM 2026: Bali Tourist SIM & Prices
Compare Telkomsel tourist SIMs and eSIMfo for Bali and Indonesia: prices, passport requirements, local numbers, supported networks and setup tips.

Searching for a Telkomsel eSIM for Bali? First decide whether you need an Indonesian phone number or mainly internet for maps, drivers and WhatsApp. A Telkomsel tourist SIM, a domestic Telkomsel eSIM and an international travel eSIM can use similar infrastructure but have different registration and service conditions.
This guide compares published offers and the actual purchase routes we checked. eSIMfo sells one of the alternatives discussed; this is an editorial comparison, not an independent field speed test or a Telkomsel-sponsored article.
Telkomsel SIM or travel eSIM: which fits your trip?
- Choose a local tourist line when an Indonesian number and ordinary local calls are useful, and you are happy to complete registration with an authorised retailer.
- Choose a travel eSIM when you mainly need mobile data, want to arrange it before departure and can use WhatsApp or other internet calling apps.
- Keep home roaming in the comparison if your existing plan already includes Indonesia. Check the allowance and charges before buying a second service.
What does a Telkomsel tourist SIM cost?
Telkomsel’s foreign-visitor page advertises the SIMPATI offer below. It is a SIM card for collection, not proof that the same price is available as an instantly delivered tourist eSIM. Collection is listed for Bali and Mandalika, Lombok.
| Product | Data / validity | Listed price | What you receive |
|---|---|---|---|
| Telkomsel SIMPATI visitor offer | 25 GB / 30 days | Rp100,000 | 25 local + 25 international call minutes; SIM collection |
| eSIMfo Indonesia | 5 GB / 30 days | €5.85 | Data-only eSIM; hotspot |
| eSIMfo Indonesia | 10 GB / 30 days | €9.10 | Data-only eSIM; hotspot |
| eSIMfo Indonesia | 20 GB / 30 days | €16.65 | Data-only eSIM; hotspot |

Can a tourist buy a Telkomsel eSIM online?
There is no single registration route for everything called “Telkomsel eSIM”. The general eSIM page lists Indonesian identity documents or KITAS for foreign applicants. The newer SIMPATI registration page also describes passport-based registration for foreigners through GraPARI or a Telkomsel outlet. Those statements concern different products and channels.
For a short holiday, ask specifically for a tourist product that accepts your passport, whether it is physical SIM or eSIM, and whether it can be issued before arrival. An online checkout for a domestic starter pack does not establish tourist eligibility.
Passport and IMEI: what should you prepare?
Telkomsel’s Tourist Prepaid Card FAQ specifies passport and device IMEI validation. Bring your unlocked phone and original passport to the authorised outlet; ask the seller to confirm the required device registration and the period your line will work.
SIM identity registration and device IMEI handling are separate checks. If you are staying longer, changing phones or returning frequently, have Telkomsel confirm your situation. This article does not calculate import duties or replace customs guidance. Never send passport photos or your eSIM QR code to an unverified social-media account.
Does eSIMfo use Telkomsel in Indonesia?
Yes: the current eSIMfo Indonesia plans checked for this guide list INDOSAT, Telkomsel and H3G CP as supported operators, with 5G where available. The 20 GB product page also lists hotspot, top-up and no eKYC. Check the chosen plan’s network list again because suppliers and offers can change.
That does not make the eSIMfo package a local Telkomsel subscriber line. The compared eSIMfo plans are data-only: no Indonesian telephone number, ordinary call allowance or carrier SMS is included. WhatsApp calls use data and can continue with your existing WhatsApp account.
A supported network is not a promise of a particular speed everywhere. Actual access depends on the plan, device, local signal and network conditions; 5G additionally needs compatible hardware and coverage.
Bali, Lombok and beyond: plan around your route
For a Bali stay split between the coast and Ubud, save your accommodation addresses, driver contact and maps before each transfer. For Lombok, Nusa Penida, boat crossings or more remote islands, ask about the specific stops rather than relying on a nationwide coverage claim.
Do not plan a critical work call during a ferry crossing or a remote excursion. Keep offline tickets and an alternative Wi-Fi connection for important uploads. This is travel planning advice, not a measured coverage ranking between operators.

How much data do you need in Bali?
Start with your phone’s recent mobile-data use, then add the travel days when you will rely on navigation, ride bookings or video calls. For example, a personal budget of 500 MB per day for 10 days is about 5 GB; allowing another 2 GB for unexpected use gives a 7 GB planning target.
That example is arithmetic, not a usage guarantee. Video, cloud-photo backups and laptop hotspot sessions can change the result quickly. Use Wi-Fi for large downloads, and check how a top-up affects your remaining validity before buying one.
Set up your phone before leaving the airport
- Before payment: verify eSIM support and carrier unlock. Confirm the exact plan, local-number requirement, installation deadline and validity trigger.
- Install over a stable Wi-Fi connection using the supplied QR code or activation instructions. Name the line “Indonesia” so that you can identify it easily.
- On arrival, select the travel line for mobile data. For the eSIMfo roaming eSIM, enable data roaming on that line as instructed; keep home-line data roaming and automatic data switching off unless you intentionally want them.
- Test maps, an internet message and hotspot before leaving Wi-Fi. If data fails, check the selected line, coverage and provider APN instructions. Keep the eSIM installed while contacting support; deleting it can complicate recovery.
What about Telkomsel RoaMAX for travel abroad?
RoaMAX is Telkomsel’s travel-abroad range, not another name for a Bali tourist SIM. Its published eSIM eligibility is aimed at Indonesian citizens. If you are leaving Indonesia, compare destination coverage and registration for that particular RoaMAX offer instead of assuming that an inbound tourist product includes overseas roaming.
Telkomsel eSIM: frequently asked questions
Can foreign tourists get a Telkomsel eSIM?
Check the tourist-specific product and sales channel. Telkomsel’s general eSIM and foreigner registration pages describe different eligibility routes. Ask an authorised outlet to confirm passport acceptance, eSIM availability and device registration before paying.
Is Telkomsel eSIM the same as an eSIMfo Indonesia package?
No. Telkomsel is a local operator. The eSIMfo plans compared here are international data eSIMs that currently list Telkomsel among supported networks. They do not include a local Telkomsel number or the tourist SIM’s call allowance.
Do I need a passport and IMEI for a Telkomsel tourist SIM?
Telkomsel’s tourist FAQ says both are used for validation. Have the authorised outlet confirm the exact process. The checked eSIMfo 20 GB data product lists no eKYC; its purchase and activation process is different.
Will I get an Indonesian number for calls and SMS?
A local tourist line can provide local-number services according to its package. The compared eSIMfo Indonesia plans are data-only. They cannot receive a new Indonesian carrier SMS; internet messaging and calling are separate.
Can I share the internet with a laptop or another phone?
Yes, the eSIMfo Indonesia plans support hotspot. Sharing uses the same allowance and consumes battery. For a Telkomsel local offer, check its specific terms and APN setup rather than assuming all offers are identical.
Can I install the eSIM before arriving in Bali?
You can prepare a compatible, unlocked phone and follow the provider’s installation instructions before departure. Installation and validity start may differ: confirm what starts the clock for your exact package.
Does a Bali eSIM also work in Lombok or Jakarta?
The eSIMfo plans compared here cover Indonesia, not only Bali. Connection still depends on the listed networks and local coverage. For local Telkomsel bundles, check whether any allowance is restricted to a particular area.
How do I add data when the package runs low?
For a local Telkomsel line, inspect the available top-ups in MyTelkomsel or an authorised shop. For eSIMfo, check your plan’s top-up options in your account. Confirm data, expiry and price before paying; a top-up need not reset every condition.
