Holafly Review 2026: Prices, Unlimited Data, App and Setup

Holafly can be a practical choice when you want mobile internet abroad without planning every gigabyte. Its day-based travel eSIMs put simplicity first: choose a destination and trip length, install the profile and connect on arrival. The important buying decision is whether that convenience fits your phone, itinerary and use of hotspot.

How much does Holafly cost?

There is no single worldwide Holafly price. Destination, duration, product and checkout currency matter. The following examples are the published US-dollar prices for the Japan travel eSIM checked on 1 October 2026. They are reference prices, not a quote for every country or a currency conversion. [1]

3 days: US$11.90; 7 days: US$27.50; 15 days: US$50.50. Confirm the live total, currency and any promotion before paying. These day-based products are separate from Holafly Plans subscriptions.

A useful comparison starts with your own usage. For example, an assumed 350 MB a day over seven days is about 2.45 GB before video, backups or laptop sharing. That is a budgeting example, not measured consumption. If this resembles your trip, price a fixed-data plan too. If you upload frequently and dislike monitoring data, an unlimited option may justify a higher total.

Is Holafly really unlimited, and can you use hotspot?

Unlimited describes the data offer, not a guaranteed connection speed. Holafly explains that destination network operators may apply a Fair Usage Policy and temporarily reduce speed. The Japan page says such a restriction resets the next day; it does not publish one universal high-speed GB threshold for all destinations. Coverage, congestion and your handset also affect the connection. [1]

The Japan and Europe travel pages checked for this review advertise 1 GB of hotspot data per day; a seven-day package therefore includes up to 7 GB for sharing. Do not apply that allowance to every Holafly product. A video meeting, cloud sync or laptop update can consume shared data quickly. What does the Holafly app actually do?

The official app lets you browse destinations and find purchased plans, installation instructions and support. Sign in using the email associated with your purchase. Its App Store description lists automatic installation for iOS 17.4 or later, with QR and manual methods as alternatives. Installing an app does not make an incompatible or carrier-locked phone eSIM-ready. [3] [4]

How do you install and activate a Holafly eSIM?

1. Check the exact phone model, regional variant and carrier-unlock status before buying. Confirm every country on your route, including stopovers.
2. Use reliable Wi-Fi to install through the app, QR code or manual details. On iPhone, the route starts in Settings → Cellular/Mobile Service → Add eSIM. On Samsung, look under Connections → SIM manager → Add eSIM; wording varies.
3. Label the line clearly. At your destination, select the travel eSIM for mobile data and enable data roaming on that travel line as instructed. Turn off data roaming and automatic data switching for the home line to reduce accidental data charges.
4. Check a webpage with Wi-Fi off. Keep the order details and support instructions available offline. Retaining your home line for SMS or calls can still involve home-carrier charges.

Installation and the start of paid validity are not the same thing. Check your particular plan’s activation rule. A regional or global product can connect in a covered departure or transit country, so do not enable it early assuming the clock will wait until your final destination. What is Always On, and should you keep the eSIM installed?

Holafly’s Always On help page describes 1 GB of backup data every 30 days in supported destinations, with no rollover and no hotspot sharing. Its detailed terms state 12 months of access and require the profile to remain on the original device. Check eligibility and the current destination list: backup coverage can differ from the main plan. “12 GB per year” in the app artwork means monthly allowances, not 12 GB available at once. [5]

Refunds and connection problems: what should you do?

For a day-based travel eSIM bought directly from Holafly, its refund policy allows requests within six months. An unused, unactivated product may qualify for a full refund; an incompatible or locked-device claim has additional conditions, including no QR scan or data use. Connection issues should be reported during the trip. Approval and the amount depend on the circumstances; subscription products have separate terms. [6]

If the connection fails, first check the selected data line, travel-line roaming, remaining validity and coverage. Try airplane mode or a restart, then follow the plan’s APN instructions or contact Holafly support. Do not delete the profile as a first troubleshooting step. If you already deleted it, contact support with the order details: reinstallation or replacement depends on the specific eSIM. Losing a QR email is different from deleting an installed profile. [7]

Holafly or another travel eSIM: a practical buying checklist

Compare the same destination and travel dates, then check total cost, usable data, hotspot, supported networks, validity, calls and refund terms. A cheap fixed-data plan and an unlimited plan solve different needs. A data-only travel eSIM also does not replace a mobile number needed for ordinary calls or SMS verification.
