A Cyprus holiday can start with a seaside coffee in Larnaca, continue among the mosaics of Paphos and finish in a mountain village. Your connection should follow the route you actually book. For Larnaca, Paphos and the Republic of Cyprus, compare a Cyprus eSIM with your home plan's roaming allowance. For Kyrenia or Famagusta, check Northern Cyprus coverage separately. A destination name alone does not establish that one package covers both.

This guide combines a practical itinerary with a buying checklist and dated eSIMfo package examples. We sell the plans linked below; the recommendations distinguish where another option, including roaming you already pay for, may be sufficient.

Quick choice: check your arrival airport, every overnight stop and your home operator's Cyprus allowance. Then choose coverage, validity and data—in that order. A low price is useful only if the package covers your route.

Which Cyprus eSIM covers your trip?

Larnaca, Paphos, Limassol, Ayia Napa and the Troodos routes belong to the Republic of Cyprus travel itinerary covered here. Northern Cyprus needs a separate product check. On 21 October 2026, eSIMfo's Cyprus page listed PrimeTel 4G/LTE; its Northern Cyprus page listed Turkcell 4G/LTE. These are different destination listings, not a promise of interchangeable coverage.

Your routeWhat to check before paying
Larnaca, Paphos, Limassol or Ayia NapaThe Cyprus destination and supported network in the individual plan
Kyrenia, Famagusta or arrival at ErcanThe separate Northern Cyprus destination, not merely Turkey or Cyprus
A trip including both areasExplicit coverage for each part; one package is enough only if its country/operator list confirms both

Compare Cyprus data plans and Northern Cyprus plans. For northern sightseeing, our Kyrenia-to-Famagusta guide complements this article. Near the Green Line, check the network name and incoming roaming message before using mobile data. A phone can detect a network beyond the area where you are standing.

Crossing eligibility is a separate travel question. Check current official entry requirements for your passport, arrival route and any planned crossing. An eSIM purchase grants no entry permission.

Is roaming included in Cyprus?

Eligible EU/EEA home plans generally include regulated roaming in the Republic of Cyprus, subject to the plan and fair-use conditions. If your existing allowance covers the trip, buying another package may be unnecessary. The EU rules do not automatically turn every travel eSIM into an EU-wide roaming plan.

For British, Turkish, American and other non-EU/EEA subscriptions, inclusion depends on your operator and tariff. Check the exact destination, daily pass charge, available high-speed data and what happens after the allowance ends. A Turkish domestic package does not automatically cover Northern Cyprus; a UK plan may include Cyprus voluntarily, but this is not universal.

The European Commission's roaming guidance explains the general rules. EU law is suspended in the northern areas where the Republic's government does not exercise effective control, as described in the Green Line guidance. Do not assume EU roaming terms follow you there. Ship and aircraft satellite networks also require a separate cost check.

Larnaca or Paphos: how should you plan the days?

For three nights, choose one base. Larnaca suits an easy first day around Finikoudes promenade and Saint Lazarus Church, followed by a Nicosia visit or an eastern-coast day. Paphos suits a harbour walk, the archaeological park's mosaics and a separate visit to the Tombs of the Kings. A short break need not become a daily cross-island drive.

For seven nights, split the stay between east and west. One workable outline is two nights in Larnaca, one around Nicosia and four in Paphos, with one flexible day for Troodos or a coastal excursion. Reverse the route if your flights use Paphos. Treat this as a planning example, not a timetable: check opening hours, transport and weather before committing.

Use Visit Cyprus's regional overview to choose the sights that interest you. Save accommodation addresses, bus stops and booking references offline. Coastal navigation and restaurant searches are modest tasks; uploading all your holiday video over mobile data is a different budget.

What do Cyprus eSIM plans cost?

These eSIMfo data-only examples were checked on 21 October 2026 in USD. They are not a market-wide price ranking. Prices and offers can change; the selected currency and final checkout determine the amount payable.

DataValidityListed pricePlanning example
3 GB30 daysUS$4.45A short break with maps, messages and regular Wi-Fi
5 GB30 daysUS$6.10A week with everyday browsing and moderate photo sharing
10 GB30 daysUS$9.55More mobile use or some laptop sharing, with usage monitored

See the current Cyprus packages. The inspected 5 GB plan lists hotspot support and top-ups, with 30 days from activation. It is data-only: do not expect a local telephone number, cellular voice minutes or SMS to be included. Check the specific plan's activation trigger and installation instructions before loading it early. A 30-day validity is a time limit, not 30 days of unlimited data.

How much mobile data will you need?

Start with your phone's actual usage rather than the duration alone. As an illustrative budget, 300 MB per day × 7 days = 2.1 GB; adding 1 GB of spare capacity gives about 3.1 GB. Someone who streams or uploads video could use much more. These are planning calculations, not measured consumption promises.

Download maps on Wi-Fi, restrict cloud-photo backups to Wi-Fi and check the travel line's usage after the first full day. If sharing with a laptop, remember that updates and synchronisation can consume data without an obvious video stream. Remote coves, indoor rooms and mountain roads can have weaker reception even when the destination is covered.

How do you prepare the connection before arrival?

  • Confirm eSIM support for your exact phone model and that it is network-unlocked. Keep the installation instructions accessible on another screen or offline.
  • Install on reliable Wi-Fi when the plan instructions permit. Keep installation, activation and the validity start as three separate checks.
  • Select the travel eSIM for mobile data. Turn off data roaming on the home line and automatic data switching; enable roaming on the travel line only as its instructions require.
  • Keep your existing number for WhatsApp if desired. Receiving bank SMS still depends on your original line and bank; a data-only eSIM does not receive SMS sent to that number.
  • If connection fails, confirm the selected data line, supported destination and remaining allowance, then follow the supplied APN/network instructions. Avoid deleting the eSIM as your first troubleshooting step.

Cyprus eSIM: frequently asked questions

What is the best eSIM for Cyprus?

The best fit covers every stop, lasts through your trip and provides enough data at an acceptable total cost. Compare those conditions with roaming already included in your home plan. There is no single best package for a three-day city break and a month of laptop use.

Does a Cyprus eSIM work in Northern Cyprus?

Not automatically. eSIMfo lists Cyprus and Northern Cyprus separately. Check the exact package's destinations and operators before buying; a Turkey plan or a Cyprus label alone is not proof of northern coverage.

Is EU roaming free in Cyprus?

Eligible EU/EEA plans generally allow roaming at domestic terms in the Republic of Cyprus, subject to fair use and plan conditions. Northern Cyprus and ship or aircraft networks need separate checks. Non-EU/EEA subscriptions depend on their own tariffs.

How much does a Cyprus eSIM cost?

Checked eSIMfo examples were US$4.45 for 3 GB, US$6.10 for 5 GB and US$9.55 for 10 GB, each valid for 30 days, on 21 October 2026. Check the live listing for current currency, price and conditions.

Is 5 GB enough for a week in Cyprus?

It can suit maps, messaging, browsing and moderate photo sharing, especially with Wi-Fi. Video, cloud backups and laptop use can exceed that budget. Check your recent daily consumption and leave spare capacity.

Can I use WhatsApp and share my eSIM connection?

WhatsApp can use the travel eSIM's data while retaining your existing account number. The inspected Cyprus 5 GB plan lists hotspot support. That does not add a telephone number or SMS service, and shared data comes from the same allowance.

Editorial check: 21 October 2026. Product details were read from the linked eSIMfo listings; roaming and travel information were checked against the official sources cited above.
