A seven-night example is three nights in Bangkok and four in Phuket or Krabi. For fourteen nights, consider three in Bangkok, four in Chiang Mai and seven in one southern region. Keeping a single beach base often leaves more holiday time than repeatedly packing and transferring.
Save the hotel address in Thai and a map pin, plus the airport or pier meeting point. Keep a screenshot of the final transfer booking. An offline map helps with orientation; live traffic, new ride bookings and messages still need a connection.
When should you visit Thailand?
November to February is generally a comfortable period for Bangkok and northern Thailand. For Phuket, Krabi and the Andaman coast, November to April is commonly a favourable beach window. The Gulf coast has a different rainfall pattern, so do not apply a Phuket weather assumption to Ko Samui.
Check the forecast for each stop before committing to boat trips. Leave space for weather changes and reserve popular holiday accommodation early. If travelling for a festival, confirm the actual event schedule separately from the wider seasonal advice.
What should you prepare before landing?
Check the entry rules for your passport and trip purpose. Most foreign visitors entering Thailand need a Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC), submitted within the official three-day window before arrival, including arrival day. How much data do you need for 7 or 14 days?
Use recent consumption on your own phone rather than a universal “enough for everyone” number. As planning examples, 300 MB/day × 7 days is about 2.1 GB; 300 MB/day × 14 days is about 4.2 GB. At 1 GB/day, a two-week trip needs about 14 GB before a buffer.
Maps, messages and occasional browsing use a different budget from video, cloud photo uploads or a laptop hotspot. Download entertainment on Wi-Fi, pause automatic backups and review usage after the first day. For a family, decide whether everyone needs an independent connection when you separate.
How do you get connected after arrival?
- Check the exact phone model and regional variant for eSIM support and confirm it is carrier-unlocked.
