A Canton Fair eSIM is usually a China travel-data plan for your phone, not a dedicated fair network. For overseas buyers visiting Guangzhou in October 2026, the useful question is whether it will support your working day: finding a booth, contacting suppliers, opening a quotation and returning to your hotel. Choose a plan that covers the whole trip and check the apps your business actually needs before departure.

When and where is Canton Fair 2026?

The 140th Canton Fair runs from 15 October to 4 November 2026 at the China Import and Export Fair Complex in Pazhou, Guangzhou. Attend the phase relevant to your products; the three phases are separate exhibition periods.

Use the organizer's current exhibitor directory to check your product categories, registration and badge arrangements. Save your buyer account details and entrance information before arrival. A data plan does not include admission or registration.

Which China internet option fits your visit?

First check whether your existing roaming plan includes mainland China at an acceptable cost. Otherwise, an eSIM can give a compatible, carrier-unlocked phone its own data allowance without removing the home SIM. Check the exact device variant, not just the model name.

If your itinerary includes Hong Kong or another country, verify every destination in the selected plan. A mainland China plan does not automatically cover the rest of the journey.

How much data should a Canton Fair buyer plan for?

Start with recent phone usage, then add the days before and after the fair. These calculations are planning examples, not measured consumption of any particular app. Catalogue videos, cloud backups and laptop hotspots can change the total quickly.

How much data should a Canton Fair buyer plan for?
ExampleAssumed useTotal
Five-day fair visit500 MB × 5 days2.5 GB
Seven-day sourcing trip1 GB × 7 days7 GB
Ten days with larger uploads1.5 GB × 10 days15 GB

A 3 GB allowance leaves only a small margin above the first example; 5 GB gives more room. For the second, compare 10 GB. eSIMfo's China page listed 3, 5 and 10 GB options with 30-day validity when checked on 11 September 2026. Compare today's price and terms on the product page; for heavier work, check a larger allowance or the exact unlimited-plan fair-use policy.

Will WhatsApp, Google and payment apps work?

Do not choose a China eSIM on the word ‘5G’ alone. Access to overseas services can depend on the connection and routing. Ask the provider about the specific plan and the services you need, including Google Workspace, WhatsApp or your company's VPN. A travel eSIM does not automatically include a VPN or guarantee access to every app.

Set up WeChat or Alipay before flying and complete the requested account and card checks. Chinese government guidance describes payment options for overseas visitors, including registering supported apps with a foreign phone number. Mobile data, an SMS-capable number and an approved payment account are three different things. Keep access to the number used for verification.

How should you install and test your eSIM?

  1. Check eSIM support and carrier-unlock status for your exact phone. Read when the package validity starts before installing.
  2. Install over reliable Wi-Fi and label the lines clearly, for example ‘China data’ and ‘Home’. Keep the order and support details accessible elsewhere.
  3. On arrival, select the travel eSIM for mobile data and set its roaming as the provider instructs. Disable automatic data switching to the home line if you want to prevent unintended home-line data use.
  4. Open the map and test a supplier message and your work tools before leaving the hotel. Download catalogues and updates on trusted Wi-Fi when practical.
  5. If data fails, check the selected line, remaining allowance and provider APN instructions. Contact support before deleting the eSIM; reinstalling may need a replacement.

What should you save for Pazhou and Guangzhou travel?

Save your hotel name and address in Chinese, the fair entrance, hall and booth numbers, and supplier contacts. Ask each supplier to confirm the meeting point. A saved map is useful for orientation, but live routes and entry arrangements still need checking.

For airport or Guangzhou South railway station transfers, keep booking details and your destination available offline. Allow time for queues and changes; avoid planning a supplier meeting immediately after arrival. If colleagues split up, give each person independent data access rather than relying on one hotspot. Network congestion can still affect a large allowance.

Canton Fair eSIM: common questions

Do I need a special Canton Fair eSIM?

No. Choose a suitable China plan for the phone and itinerary. The event name does not create a separate mobile network or priority access inside the halls.

Does a China data eSIM include a Chinese phone number?

Not automatically. Check the plan's voice and SMS features. Supplier calls in an internet app use data; ordinary calls and verification SMS require the relevant service.

Can I connect my laptop through the eSIM?

Only if the plan and phone allow hotspot use. Check restrictions, count laptop traffic in your allowance and keep large backups off mobile data.

Is fair Wi-Fi enough for a business trip?

It can be a useful backup where available, but check current access and login requirements. Your airport transfer, supplier visits and hotel journey also need a connectivity plan.
